Before you start digging in here, I'm a lyricist and an average guitarist at best. I haven't come to dethrone Taylor Swift.

I write lyrics cinematically, then give them a simple life on an acoustic guitar. It was good enough for Dylan and Cohen, and it's good enough for me. Especially as technology has finally freed me from the inconvenience of hanging around with other musicians and having anything to do with the music business.

But there's also an alternate universe in which I can hear what my songs might sound like if somebody gave me a stack of money and left me to do my own thing in a studio. So I Frankensteined them to life with the help of some robots. Not to fool anybody, but because they sound great, and it's better that they exist like this as well than not exist at all.

Life is too short to overthink these things.
