CARNAGE IN COACH D

Discovered this evening that if you sit close to the first class carriages on Virgin trains, you can get free WiFi. Not economy WiFi either. Proper able to do stuff WiFi. Trains are always an excellent source of amusement. Sitting behind me is a woman with two kids who are getting their five-a-day for sure! One Big Mac and fries with extra cheese, one jumbo bag of astro belts, one family size bottle of cola, one slap to the back of the legs (now illegal - apparently - but this evening more than justified. Everybody in this carriage agrees with me) and one hour of sleep. Are the ten-ton fiery neon signs dropping from the skies not visible enough?

I only noticed this because the album finished on my ipod. At first I thought everybody was pissed at me for having it too loud (has been known), but there's no way they can hear me over the carnage in Coach D.

Topically, I'm now about half way through my first draft of my Who script. Is it possible to stand outside of yourself and say "yes, this is pretty damn good"? I'd like to think it is. This is based on the fact that I have thrown more work away in my time than wil ever see the light of day. Let's get it finished first and throw it on the mercy of the Who Gods - that's how we'll really find out!

If you'd asked me earlier this week what the most unlikely thing I could think of happening - ever - was. My answer would not have been: Heavy Metal Kids are playing a gig in London (Camden Underworld) with Phil Lewis fronting the band following a one-off show in Croatia. If I had said that, you would have found me swinging from a rafter after the local authorities had me strung up for being a warlock of some real value. Still, that's exactly what's happening - you can find the show on facebook - give the guys some support. I'm thinking it's going to be great - and I'll see you there!
...and just in case any of my homeboys were thinking all the good shit always happens in London - you would be mistaken. August 6th sees the band playing the awesome Colwyn Bay FC Lounge. Now, I know it's my part of the world but I've never heard of the place. Colwyn Bay isn't that big so it shouldn't be too hard to find. All you need to know is that it's not at the Mountain Zoo. That date is bang in the middle of Tattoo Jam otherwise I'd hightail it up their myself. So if you're not coming to Tattoo Jam or going to see Heavy Metal Kids... what the hell are you doing?
Don't give me that shit - Doctor Who will be over by then...

Some of you may be wondering what the hell that Blood and Honey tab is up top. I had intended to get it all up and running by now but obviously, I haven't. I really miss writing about music, so right there - on that tab - is where you'll find my very best musings on the latest developments in pop culture. Under the 'scope this week will be a couple of absolute humdingers - one of which I actually went into HMV and bought - with cash - because I'd been looking forward to it for so long. You know what - that feeling of ownership and belonging never goes away. I thought I had killed it, but there I sat in the car, leafing through the sleeve like a twelve year old. Maybe I should buy stuff more often.
Maybe bands should actually put out stuff people want more often.

It's been months in the making but I'm also pretty excited to be kicking off my blog at Skin Deep in a month or so. Now we've redesigned the main site, we shall be making a cool home for it on there. Been bandying around some ideas for how it's going to run it and I think I have it now, just need the backroom boys to tweak a few bits of machinery and we'll be rolling.
Hmm. I think I might have to get off the train in a moment. Best pack up my stuff...
